Correspondence, memoranda and working papers relating to the establishment of Help the Hospices, intended to raise funds and improve awareness of the work of hospices. Correspondents include Professor Peter Quilliam, Chairman of the Board of Science and Education, British Medical Association, Professor Eric Wilkes, Medical Director, St Luke's Nursing Home, Sheffield, and Tom Scott, Strathcarron Hospice. Files also include correspondence with Canon John White, Windsor Castle, 1984, relating to a planning event, 'Whither the hospice movement?', November 1984, and correspondence with Andrew J Hayes, Wessex Regional Cancer Organisation, and Saunders' request that he should cancel a proposed campaign ('Last rights'), in order not to compete with Help the Hospices.
