Copy of memoir covering the period 1914-1921, including his service in World War One in the Mediterranean, 1914-1915 and 1917-1918, and the North Sea, 1916-1917, notably the Battle of Jutland, 1916, in the Baltic during the Russian Civil War, 1918, and on fishery duties in the English Channel, 1920, written in [1920-1921].

Biographical history

Born in 1897; educated at Royal Naval Colleges, Osborne and Dartmouth; served on HMS DORIS, Mediterranean, 1914-1915, HMS VALIANT, North Sea, 1916-1917, HMS LOBELIA, Mediterranean, 1917-1918, HMS CALYPSO, Baltic, 1918, and HMS TRING, English Channel, 1920; retired from RN, 1920, but rejoined to fight in World War Two; died in 1981.

Copy made by the Centre in 1982 from original loaned by the family.
