Beryl White's illustrations

Durbar watercolour by Beryl White in DelhiDurbar watercolour by Beryl White in DelhiBeryl White was an enthusiastic painter and her album is filled with her sketches and watercolour paintings.

As a watercolour artist she won prizes in public exhibitions - her landscapes of the Himalayas and sketches of friends and family provide a rich addition to the scrapbook.

White exhibited at Darjeeling, which lies to the south of Sikkim, notably at viewings organised by the Darjeeling Fine Arts Society.

She also travelled widely, and her observations of Calcutta, the temple and pilgrimage centre, Bahu fort in Jammu province, Simla and of the Delhi Durbar in 1903 decorate the album.
